Melissa Lewis – Owner/Floral Designer
Flowers have been Melissa’s passion – either as a designer or an owner – for over two decades. Melissa opened her first shop called The Rose Petaler in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1992 after working for an Ecuadorian family in Boston learning the rose trade. Her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from The Colorado College taught her many valuable skills about owning and operating a small business. She successfully sold the company in 2001 to spend more time with her children. Unable to stay away for too long, Melissa purchased Table Tops, Etc. in April 2003 from a friend she worked for following her short hiatus. She has been designing fabulous events – from lavish soirees and intimate anniversary parties to three-day conferences and 800-guest weddings – and has an amazing following! Over 2,100 executed events over the course of her carrier!
“I have a confession to make! When I was seven years old and living in Marblehead, Massachusetts, I stole tulips from our public gardens as a Mother’s Day gift. That was the beginning . . . and it’s only grown from there. Lilacs from my neighbors’ gardens would find their way to vases throughout my home each season. And, each year on my vacations back East, I would dry sea lavender plucked from the New England shores and moss dug from the damp Maine forests – just to add a little something special to client arrangements.
I love flowers. I have always loved flowers. I can’t tell you what a joy it is to have the opportunity to work with them every day – and share them with others!”
